Protecting the Environment as a Corporate Goal
By implementing the guiding principle for environmental policies, NORDENIA accepts its obligation to comply with statutes relevant to the environment and to continuously improve the environmental balance. This policy is the basis for the subsidianries’ environmental management systems. These regulate all the subsidiaries’ activities that are relevant to the environment and ensure that resources are dealt with efficiently and that pollution is reduced. Compliance with environmentally relevant statutes and conditions in each country is a self-evident precondition. |
 Standard of Voluntary Self-inspections
External experts confirm the operativeness of our environmental management systems through regular inspections. This means that NORDENIA is among a small group of about 3,000 companies in Germany that have committed themselves to comply with ISO 14001. As a globally recognized standard for voluntary self-control, it regulates the introduction of environmental management systems. We can prevent pollution by systematically discovering opportunities for improvements and by reaching environmental goals. The PDF version of the certificate is available on this page. |

 Pioneer in the Branch
NORDENIA has been certified in accordance with the international ISO 14001 environmental standard since 2000. The sites have repeatedly demonstrated their understanding of how to protect the environment. Frequently, that has made them industry pioneers: The first film recycling installation started operating in 1970. In 1990, the company started running its first incinerating device for cleaning solvent-polluted exhaust air, which uses the solvent-polluted exhaust air that is produced during the manufacture of film packaging as fuel. Thanks to said technology, the company was already able to meet today’s limits without difficulty 10 years before the VOC regulation became effective. In 1992, NORDENIA started up its first block-type heat and power plant. The NORDENIA Extraction Cleaning (NOREC) recycling facility began operating in 1997. The quality of the film waste that is treated with the facility, for which NORDENIA had developed a special cleaning and extraction process, comes close to that of the primary raw materials. NORDENIA uses measures in a targeted manner to continuously optimize the effectiveness of its environmental policy. |
